Leadership Tips
Dear LWML Leaders,
Welcome back to Tips for Leading with Confidence. We pray this leadership tip will be beneficial as you serve our Lord through the LWML. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
Recognizing Leaders
Try this activity to enable your group to see leaders in their midst.
At an upcoming LWML event, take digital photos of all participants as they arrive, and print them.
Give each participant a frame that has been prepared beforehand. Pre-cut photo mats are relatively inexpensive when bought in quantity and can be used as frames for this purpose.
As you begin, ask each participant to write her very best leader quality on the top section of her frame. Examples can be provided if participants seem hesitant to see their qualities as "leader" material (e.g., honesty, decisiveness, ability to delegate, good communication, confidence, commitment, positive attitude, creative, ability to inspire, empathy, accountability, enthusiastic, focus, drive, responsible, vision, passion, integrity, humility, good spiritual life, courageous, etc.).
Then ask the participants to move around the room and ask others to list qualities each of them sees in the individual. These qualities may be written on each of the other three sides of the frame.
After the participants return to their places, give them their photos and tell them they now have a true picture of themselves as leaders, as shown on their frames. Encourage them to cultivate these qualities in service to our Lord.
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 NKJV).
