LWML Will Live Stream Convention!
Once again, everyone across the nation will be able to join in the worship services and programing of the 36th Biennial Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Convention to be held June 25-28, 2015, in Des Moines, Iowa. LWML will offer high quality, real-time video streaming of all events taking place in the main convention hall. Those not able to travel to Des Moines will be able to participate via their own computer, tablet or smartphone, and even display it on a large screen television in their church or home. Groups are encouraged to host any or all LWML programing events via live streaming as they occur in real-time in Des Moines. A downloadable pdf of the opening worship service will be available at www.lwml.org/convention for printing, making participation easy. On June 25-28, 2015, go to www.livestream.com/TheLWML to watch all events. All events will be archived for future viewing.
Available Soon: Video of Mission Grant Proposals
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is pleased to offer this link: https://livestream.com/TheLWML to a video featuring all 33 Mission Grant proposals that have been placed on the LWML Convention ballot. This link will be active early next week for viewing. Delegates may view the video and prayerfully make a more informed decision. This video is available for all parties interested in these missions.
Convention Offerings Benefit Mission Organizations
The recipients of the four convention offerings are: Offering 1 - Mission Goal for the 2015-2017 Biennium; Offering 2 - Discovering Disabilities – Including ALL of God’s Children Lutheran Special Education Ministries (LSEM) Farmington Hills, Michigan; Offering 3 - Cabins for Christ’s Children at Lutheran Valley Retreat, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Offering 4 - Family of God Mission – Detroit, Michigan – A mission plant of the Michigan District that serves the addicted, homeless, and poor of South-West Detroit, Michigan. More information on each of these agencies is available on the LWML website.
Any LWML members who cannot attend the convention are encouraged to participate by sharing their blessings through a donation designated for these specific offerings. Donations may be mailed to the LWML Office, P.O. Box 411993, St. Louis, MO, 63141-1993, made online through the donate option, or through PayPal. Supporters donating through the LWML website are asked to designate the specific offering in the space beside "Choose one - In honor of." When using PayPal, enter the offering designation on the "message" line. Instructions for making donations are also listed at this site.
Any offerings, received by July 31, 2015, will be posted to their designated offering recipient. The LWML thanks all readers for sharing this information with the men and women of their district.
New LWML Resources – Signed by Their Authors
During the Bountiful Bash – a Party with a Purpose, from 7-9 p.m., on Friday night of the 36th Biennial Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Convention, June 25-28, 2015, in Des Moines, Iowa, participants will have the opportunity to purchase several new resources and have the authors sign those products.
Past LWML Presidents have authored a new book titled Hope Notes, Devotions for Women. They will be signing this devotional at the Concordia Publishing House booth.
Cheryl Mattil, author of a new LWML Bible study, Gifts, Chosen For You, will be at the Christian Life Exhibit from 8-9 p.m. Meet Cheryl and receive one free lesson from her Bible study. The complete Bible study is available for purchase in the LWML Store.
Author Donna Pyle will be at the Christian Life Exhibit from 7-8 p.m. to sign her new LWML Journal, A Sparrow’s Worth. Purchase your journal from the LWML Store and then hurry over to the exhibit for Donna’s signature!
Highlights Video Will Be Available After Convention
A Convention Highlights video, and a video of the newly selected 2015-2017 Mission Grants, will be available via a link on the LWML website shortly after the close of convention. This tool will be valuable to anyone wanting to share their convention experience with those in their churches and communities. No more waiting for the production of a DVD! Check the website often after the convention for this exciting video.
