Lutheran Women’s Missionary League
2021 Convention
Lexington, Kentucky
June 24–27
Physical Distancing and Mask Requirements Lifted in Lexington!
Local and state pandemic restrictions have been lifted in Kentucky! Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, LWML will no longer require physical distancing during the convention. Masks are recommended for those not yet vaccinated and are optional, but not required, for fully vaccinated people.
Airports and airlines are still requiring masks and some restaurants and other establishments may still require them, so we suggest you always carry them with you. If you have any questions, please contact the LWML.
LWML President Debbie Larson and the Board of Directors ask that you continue to pray boldly, knowing God hears and answers prayers. Together, we will continue “Running the Race … Looking to Jesus.”
Preparing for God’s Convention
Are you all set for the LWML 39th Biennial Convention in Lexington? It’s only a week away! What does your packing list look like? What to wear? How many pairs of shoes to bring? Shall I pack an LWML rain poncho, just in case?
Have you included your Bible? The LWML app has a Bible; download the app to your phone before you leave home. Have you read the Pre-Convention Devotion? It’s available here; keep it with you as you travel.
Are you planning to use the “Blessing of Convention Participants” at your church? This is a great way to begin your trip, asking God to bless you with safe travel and an inspirational four days at His convention.
Walk-in Blood Donations Open
Now that pandemic restrictions have been lifted, the American Red Cross, along with the LWML Convention Host Committee, is excited to announce that walk-in blood donors will be accepted in Lexington on Thursday, June 24. Blood donors may come to Exhibit Hall A-1, Level Three of the Central Bank Center between the hours of 9 a.m.–3 p.m. to register and give life-saving blood.
A MISSION EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER!
Rev. Jeff Mueller, a Mites in Action Speaker at the 2021 LWML Convention, and his congregation, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hood River, Oregon, invite you to a convention-related mission experience through their international children’s rescue mission, Child Beyond International. It’s virtual, free, and everyone is welcome!
Due to the world-wide pandemic, all of their short-term mission trips were cancelled since early 2020. But when a door is closed to the Gospel, God can open a window. Child Beyond International was inspired to create an exciting and impacting alternative Virtual Mission Trip opportunity. Anyone with a mission-heart and access to the internet can experience this event from the safety and comfort of their own home.
Rev. Mueller and his church invite you, your congregation, family, and friends to “come down” to Guatemala virtually for a free, week-long, amazing, inspiring, and faith-building mission adventure that is provided to all our LCMS congregations and LWML members. Click here to view the flyer.
For more information on Virtual Mission Trips and how you and your church can “visit” Guatemala and share in the success of “lifting children and families to new life in Christ,” click on this Virtual Mission Trips Video Link. You can also go to their website, Childbeyond.org and click on the “Go Beyond” link or send an email inquiry to Info@childbeyond.org.
