Love in Word and Deed
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (Psalm 103:8).
The word “love” can be used in many ways. A person might say that she loves chocolate, but a far different meaning for love is meant when that same person says that she loves her children. This type of love is deeper, stronger, and more intimate. The Psalmist describes God’s love as abounding and steadfast.
How did God show His bountiful and unwavering love? Jesus came as a human to live a perfect life, suffer, and die for the sins of all. He rose from the dead and lives today to grant those who believe in Him eternal life. The Holy Spirit gives us faith to believe and the power to love others as we serve our Lord. In addition, our loving God daily sustains, cares for, forgives, and comforts us. This merciful and gracious love of God for us in Christ literally changes our lives. What amazing love!
Challenge: Share the amazing love of Jesus with someone special in your life this week. Continue to reflect on the changes the Lord’s steadfast love has made in your life throughout the season of Lent.
