Wherever I Am, God is With Me

Change is constant. My husband and I recently made an extreme change in our lives, moving from our North Dakota home of 21 years to a new home in Colorado. We are meeting a new church family and new neighbors, learning new ways to garden and bake at high altitudes, and adjusting to life in the mountains. While exciting, change can be overwhelming at times.

In times of change I thank my Lord for His unchanging love and mercy! Each morning, I look forward to what God has in store for me that day. I know He is with me whether I’m in North Dakota or Colorado, whether I’m walking the path He has laid out for me or even if I’ve strayed from His will and am feeling lost. My God is with me each step of the way.

Please take time to read this short devotion: “Comfort from the Psalms – an Unchanging God.” This is a Mustard Seed Devotion and you can sign up for a new devotion sent to your email each day here. These devotions are a reminder of how God is always with us. Enjoy!

In His service, filled with His joy,

“Mountaintop” Experiences

Remember those “mountaintop” experiences in our lives? In June of 2017 God granted a “mountaintop” experience to our Women in Mission who planned, prepared, presented, and attended our 37th LWML Biennial Convention and the 75th Anniversary celebration in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Every aspect of this convention was a motivation to equip us, as we serve Christ in our daily lives, and continue “mountaintop” journeys.

What do you need to help engage and encourage someone with the gift of hearing about Jesus? Many helps are available in the new Catalog 2017–2018 and online:

More? Search this site! Go — engage and equip others to spread the message of Good News!

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act (Psalm 37:5).

Sharing Convention — 2017!

The LWML Convention in Albuquerque certainly set Jesus Christ above all, where attendees shared God’s abundant generosity through the convention offerings, and other gifts received for missions around the world.  God’s blessings were evident through four convention offerings. One of the offerings will support a mission serving a diverse population living in the poorest area in and around the city of Albuquerque, and another will help provide a bilingual Worker Priest on the US/Mexico border. See LWML website for details.

Two years ago LWML’s mission minded servants set a $2 million dollar mission goal, and God said “you can do better,” and so we did! That mission goal was exceeded with 100% of the biennium’s adopted mission grants funded. To God be the glory!  Now the 2017–2019 biennium is before us and a new mission goal of $2,075,000 has been adopted. God knows we can meet it. After all, we just can’t out-give God — Jesus Christ above all!

Equipped for Service

Now may the God of peace equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13:20–21 NIV).

How many times have you heard that saying, “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called”? Nowhere does that hold more true than in the positions held in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).

What is God calling you to do? Have you served your district in a position and feel God’s nudge to carry that service to the national level? If so, please go to the LWML website and review the duties of the various committees to see where your talents and interests fit. For information on the responsibilities of each committee go to the LWML website and click on Service > Get Involved > Officer and Committee Guidelines, or click here.

If you sense the Spirit’s encouragement, please complete the LWML Personnel Form online, under Service > Get Involved. You may also download and print out the pdf document and mail it in. All forms are welcome and will be considered.

The Executive Committee (EC) of the LWML will meet August 15-19, 2017, to make appointments to committees, so send your form in soon! We ask for your prayers as God directs this process of choosing committees and your continued prayer support as we enter this next two years ready to Engage, Encourage, Equip, and Enjoy!

Freely Given

We, as Lutheran Women in Mission, serve the Lord and give our mite offerings for missions. We do this with gladness but we do like to be appreciated and recognized for our gifts and services. When my grandson, Layne, was 3 years old (he is now 14 and taller than me) he taught me a valuable lesson on giving freely to the Lord. This little boy wanted to give his offering anonymously.

Each Sunday in church, Layne would ask for an envelope into which he would put his offering. He would take a pencil, carefully write his name on the envelope, insert his money, and seal it shut. One Sunday, he asked for the envelope and put his money inside. The usher was bringing the offering plate and I whispered to Layne that he needed to hurry and write his name. He simply replied, “No Grandma, today I’m going to give it free.” My 3-year-old grandson didn’t want credit for his gift. He just wanted to give it to Jesus.

God sent Jesus to die on a cross, saving us from sin, death, and the power of the devil. He did this freely. Because of His great gift of redemption, we take joy in giving our mite offerings freely also, so that Jesus’ love will be shared with others. You can give to mites right here so that all people may hear of His love and mercy.

In His service, filled with His joy,
