These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full (John 15:11).
Joy is a way of thinking, behaving, relating to your friends and family. As LWML women we receive great joy by gathering together in Bible study. As I meet with my Bible study group each week, it brings me great joy to see my friends — knowing how we can support each other in prayer and sharing things that are going on in our lives. We dig into our Bible, have meaningful talks, and try to discern how Christ wants us to live. Christ wants His joy to be our joy and we are to share that with others. But the thing I value most about our LWML Bible study group is the joy that comes when we all join together in prayer. The joy that the Lord gives us to bring our needs and praises to Him is important.
Christ made it clear to His followers, He intended that His joy would become their joy. And this still holds true today. Christ wants us to share His joy with others.
Dear Lord, help me share joy in all the things that I do. In Jesus name. Amen.

One of our Primary Targets this biennium is “Making Our Faith Meaningful.” This means that we, as LWML, are equipping women to make a significant difference in the lives of all people. While the flooding in Nebraska did not touch my community, it has affected it. We know others have lost homes, livestock, and more. In the middle of the devastation come messages of faith sent from all over the nation. LWML sisters flooded Facebook with messages of hope and compassion. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of those who are hurting. Whether we have floods, tornadoes, hurricanes or fires, it is a comfort to know that our LWML sisters are praying and sharing … Meaningful Faith.

And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matthew 25:40).
We are told that we should serve as Jesus’ hands and feet to help others and share the love of Christ and the Good News of the Gospel. As LWML women, we are very familiar with these words as they are in our LWML Pledge – “We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands.” During this Lenten season, identify someone you can help who has experienced a personal loss perhaps through a natural disaster, who is struggling with life, or just needs a helping hand. A card (include a Mustard Seed Devotion), LWML devotion book, meal, or listening to their story goes a long way to show people that others care about them. You will be a blessing to them with your actions. You will also be blessed by giving of yourself. Who can you engage with and encourage today?

The family of Christ. The phrase brings to mind relationships, love, care, respect, encouragement, and support. We are God’s unique and special children, sisters and brothers in Christ! Our Father in heaven lovingly and tenderly nurtures our faith in Jesus and empowers us by the Holy Spirit to use our talents and abilities to His glory and in joyful service to Him.
Identify a special woman in whose life you can make a meaningful difference. The time is now to share your faith with her, encourage her, and show her that she is a valued child of God. Involve her in activities where she can meet other Lutheran Women in Mission in the family of Christ. Invite her to study the Bible with you and pray with you. Imagine and implement creative ways to mentor your sister in Christ, so she can use her unique talents and abilities to God’s glory.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:17).

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).
As leaders, we have all been given the privilege of spreading the love of Jesus Christ and His salvation message throughout the world. If you’re like me, you feel inadequate to perform this task.
Guess what? We are!
But remember! We don’t work alone!
Jesus Christ walks with us in all we do. Ask Him to go before you and push aside all distractions. Ask Him to help you focus and clearly mark the path He has chosen for you. Sit at the feet of the gifted, well-seasoned members of LWML and learn from them as you walk in His love.
May we all clearly focus on Jesus Christ and His will for our lives. May we have the wisdom and strength needed to put priorities in order. And may His hand be upon us as we continue to spread His Word and message of love and mercy throughout the world.

“J-O-Y, not y-o-j!” This phrase centers on living each day focusing on Jesus first, others second, and you [ourselves] last, not the other way around. It puts God’s (not my) order in place.
Being involved in LWML, sharing Jesus’ joy through communication … is my face pleasant when I greet others? Do I even greet others or just pass them by? Is my reaction to life and living given in a negative or a positive? If I’m negative, I’m usually focused on what a situation did to me … not asking Jesus for the lesson learned or putting others ahead of myself. In other words, do I live each day with an attitude of gratitude … that’s God’s plan, that’s “J-O-Y, not y-o-j”.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (Galatians 5:22).
The Time is NOW! I pray you celebrate J-O-Y every day, as you share God’s blessings through all you do and say.

“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (Psalm 119:103).
When our group decided to host an event for the women in our congregation, we wanted to invite all the women. Invitations were sent to each woman and her daughters. We planned a devotion, activity, delicious snacks, and time to reflect on the importance of spending time reading God’s Word. When the time came for the event, we were overjoyed at the number of women who came. However, the six teens who came with their mom or grandma was the highlight of the night. God allowed us to be His lips and voice as we shared various ways to be “in the Word”.
To God be the glory!
