Soon many of us will gather together in person to be inspired as we hear God’s Word, sing His praises, and hear the amazing things God does through us in the LWML. However, it dawned on me that convention won’t be in session on a Tuesday. So I pose a challenge. 5-Minute Friday!
Take five minutes on Friday, June 26, whether you are in Des Moines at convention or at home. Take five minutes to reach out to someone and get to know them. Perhaps it will be the lady with whom you eat lunch. Maybe you will walk a new route through your neighborhood and find someone new to chat with and visit. Just. Five. Minutes.
As you spend a little extra time, remember what our Lord says: And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). We do not go alone, but God works and abounds through us in His time … even if it takes more than five minutes. May God bless your time as you share His love with someone new on Friday or anytime!

As a teacher, I made many lesson plans. Sometimes they worked well; sometimes they needed to be refocused or adjusted. Life is much the same, isn’t it? We would be happy to always have things go as planned and not make any changes ... ever! However, in the real world that doesn’t happen. Occasionally, plans need to be reworked or completely changed.
Is your LWML group ready for a new plan? One that might involve doing things a little differently in order to reach those women who don’t currently participate in LWML activities?
Could your group:
- begin a new ministry (knit or crochet prayer shawls for the sick or home bound, concluding your time praying over the shawls and those who will receive them); or
- plan a party (have a game night in the fellowship hall complete with popcorn and a family devotion); or
- host a mini-retreat on a Saturday morning (complete with brunch, a family-friendly Bible study and lots of singing)?
The possibilities for reaching other women and sharing the love of LWML are endless, but the reaching out has to come from us ... and that may require planning as well as doing things differently. With the help of God, the Divine Planner, we can do it!

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11).
Do you know what God's plans are for you? Do you know He's by your side?
How about that shy woman at church, in a Bible study? Have you asked if she knows what God has planned for her? Perhaps you could suggest something you think she might be interested in doing. Is there a need for help in your society, your zone, or maybe even your district? Sometimes, it only takes that first baby step with encouragement to try something new. Only God knows where that first step might lead her or you.
Do you come 'home' from an LWML meeting filled with joy from being with your sisters in Christ? The Time is NOW! Let others know your joy and that they too can have that same joy.

You've been thinking about it — for many, many years — but never followed through. One day, you say. One day.
Thirty years ago, I finally did it.
Nervous and apprehensive (does that sound like you?), I traveled by myself to an LWML convention held in the beautiful state of Iowa — in Ames. I came home hooked-for-life on the LWML, and I cannot be but forever thankful for how Lord has blessed me and equipped me for His service since then.
Iowa has opened its big heart again and invited us to gather this time in Des Moines, June 25–28, 2015, for “Bountiful! Sow • Nourish • Reap.”
The Time is NOW to take that leap! It’s not too late! (Regular convention registration opened March 15.)
Don’t just think about making plans, do it! Your time is now!

Attitude is everything … well, maybe not everything!
How do we get younger women involved in our LWML group? How do we keep the excitement going long after a convention? These are questions I am often asked. I will say that attitude goes a long way. Is your LWML get-together just another “to do” on your list of many? Or is it looked forward to with anticipation and excitement? Excitement is contagious! The Time is NOW to let it be caught!
Although excitement is important, you are not in this alone. The Lord is working in the hearts of your sisters in Christ. It is not all up to you to get everyone involved! The Time is NOW to put your trust in the Lord and pray that your sisters’ hearts are opened to what the Lord has done through the LWML. Continuously pray that the Lord’s will be done and know that your LWML leadership is praying for you!

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Refresh it!
OK! So the couch wasn't broken. It was just an old hand-me-down from my aunt. I wanted something different, but thought that I could not justify replacing it. After all, it was functional. Then a conversation with a friend gave me all sorts of ideas. I bought a couch cover, made some pillows, and rearranged the living room. My friend helped me pull it all together. What a refreshing difference! Same couch, new look.
Does your LWML group need refreshing? The Time is NOW to explore the possibilities. Rearranging the meeting time or day of your LWML group could strengthen your group and provide more opportunities for women to participate in events and activities. Talk it over with your group. Get some ideas from other women, too. You may discover new, refreshing ways to share the same unbroken, unchanging message of Christ and the ministry and mission of the LWML that has been handed down to us by our moms, aunts, and sisters in Christ.

For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7b).
A part of The Time is NOW pledge on the LWML website says, "...I am committed to helping LWML make an impact on the next generation! I am dedicated to ...caring for my sisters ..."
Dear Sisters in Christ,
The Time is NOW to encourage all women of every age, race, and culture in your district to actively join us in serving the Lord through the mission work of the LWML.
